The Russian Federation’s official currency is the Russian Ruble (RUB). The RUB is officially divided into 100 kopecks (coins). The Russian Ruble is used mainly in Russia as well as some parts of Ukraine that are under Russian military occupation. The same applies to Georgia’s Russian-occupied parts where the ruble is also used. Taking a look back through the years since the currency emerged, it has been the official currency of the Russian Empire as well as the currency of the Soviet Union, however, back then it was called the Soviet ruble. Officially, the Russian Ruble (RUB) replaced the Soviet Ruble in 1993.
