The Australian currency is called the Australian Dollar (AUD). Being divided into 100 cents (a hundredth), the Australian Dollar has been the official currency of Australia since 1966. In recent years, the AUD has fluctuated in value against other major currencies. For example, in 2021, the AUD was trading at around 0.75 USD, but it has traded as high as1.10 USD and as low as 0.48 USD in the past two decades. The AUD is commonly traded on international foreign exchange markets and is widely accepted in many countries around the world. As of 2023, there are no current plans for Australia to adopt the Euro or any other foreign currency. The country remains committed to maintaining the Australian Dollar as its official currency and managing its value through the policies of the RBA.
